European Blackjack

Blackjack is a game of skill and chance between you and the Dealer. It is played with between one and six standard decks of cards. European Blackjack is played with two standard decks of 52 playing cards that are shuffled before each game.

The aim is to beat the Dealer's hand by either getting a better hand, without exceeding 21, or by the Dealer's hand going bust. In European Blackjack, you can only bet one hand at a time.

Note:
Blackjack is when your hand contains an Ace and a card with a value of ten. It is the strongest hand in Blackjack, and automatically stands. It cannot be beaten, only matched.

Payout Schedule

Winning hands in European Blackjack pay out as follows:

If you win with a Blackjack you will be paid out at odds of 3:2 on your original bet. So if you bet 10 you would win 25.

For any normal winning hand of Blackjack the payout will double your bet. So, if you bet 10 you would win 20.

If you lose against a Dealer’s Blackjack and have taken Insurance you are paid out at odds of 1 to 1.5 on your original bet. So, if you bet 10 you are paid 15.

If you and the Dealer have Blackjack, this is considered a Push. You are paid back your original bet amount

Playing European Blackjack

To play a game of European Blackjack, do the following: Click the Increase (+) or Decrease (-) button to select the amount you want to bet.

Click the Deal button. A hand of two cards is dealt to you, and one card is dealt to the Dealer.

Depending on the cards you are dealt and the game rules, different play options are available. More than one option can be performed, or one option repeated depending on the stage of the game. The play options are:

Hit
Click the Hit button. You are dealt one card.

Example:
If you have a hand under the value of 21 and want another card, use the Hit option. The Dealer deals you another card from the deck.

Stand
Click the Stand button. This ends the play of this hand.

Example:
If you think you have a good enough hand, use the Stand option. You do not receive more cards.

Split
Click the Split button. Your hand is divided into two separate hands and a new card is dealt to each hand.

Example:
If you are dealt two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens, or two Fours, you can use the Split option. You split the two cards into two separate hands.

Double
Click the Double button. A side bet equal to your original bet is placed on the table. You are dealt one card and your hand automatically stands.

Example:
If you have a hand that you think can beat the Dealer’s hand, you can double your bet by using the Double option. You can double down if the value of your first two cards is 9, 10 or 11. A side bet is placed that your hand will beat the Dealer’s hand. Only one more card is dealt.

Take Insurance
Click the Insurance button. An Insurance bet, equal to half your original bet, is placed on the table.

Example:
If the Dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, you are given the option to take Insurance. You take Insurance against the Dealer getting a Blackjack. An Insurance bet is placed on the table.

Your hand and the Dealer's hands are compared. The hand with the highest value wins and the winnings are paid.

Terms

Blackjack

This is when your hand contains an Ace and a card with a value of 10. It is the strongest hand in Blackjack, and automatically stands. It cannot be beaten, only matched.

Insurance

This is a side bet against the possibility of you losing to the Dealer's Blackjack. You can take Insurance if the Dealer's first card is an Ace. Insurance costs half your original bet.

Split

You can split two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens or two Fours. Your hand is divided into two separate hands and a bet equal to your original bet is placed on the second hand. So, you have effectively doubled your bet. New cards are dealt to each new hand and you play these separate hands as normal.

Note: Cards of the same value but not of the same denomination, for example a 10 and a Queen, cannot be split in this version of Blackjack.

Double

This is a side bet that your hand will beat the Dealer's with only one more card drawn. You can double when your hand has a value of 9, 10 or 11. You are dealt one card and your hand automatically stands. If your hand beats the Dealer's you double your payout. Doubling costs the same as your original bet. If you win you are paid double your total bet. This win amount is equal to four times your original bet.

Hit

This is when you request another card from the shoe because your hand is not strong enough to beat the Dealer's hand. You are dealt one card.

Bust

If your hand value exceeds 21, your hand is bust. Your hand is over and you lose your bet.

Note: Other hands on the table are unaffected by one hand going bust.

Push

This is when your hand and the Dealer's hand tie. You are paid your original bet.

Stand

This is when you are satisfied with the value of your hand and do not want to draw any more cards. This ends the play of the hand.

Note: Other hands on the table are unaffected by you selecting to stand. You play the remaining hands as normal.

Rules

The following rules apply when playing Blackjack: The Dealer's hand is dealt in strict accordance to the rules of the Casino.

The Dealer stands on all 17 and draws on 16.

If the Dealer's hand exceeds 21, it is bust. If your hand is not bust, you automatically win.

European Blackjack is played with two decks of cards that are shuffled after the completion of every game.

You may draw up to nine additional cards to make a hand of eleven cards, provided the value of your hand does not exceed 21. If your hand does not exceed 21 after receiving eleven cards, your hand automatically stands, and the Dealer plays his hand.

If the Dealer gets Blackjack after you have split or doubled, your entire bet - both the original and double or split amounts, are lost.

All face cards - Jacks, Kings and Queens, have a value of 10.

Aces can have a value of either 1 or 11, depending on what is more beneficial to your hand.

If you are dealt an Ace and a card with a value of 10, you have Blackjack. Your hand automatically stands. It cannot be beaten, only matched. If you beat the Dealer with a Blackjack you are paid out at 3:2.

You can split two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens or two Fours. Your hand is divided into two separate hands and a bet equal to your original bet is placed on the second hand.

Cards of the same value but not of the same denomination cannot be split in this version of Blackjack. For example, a King and a Ten have the same numerical value, but cannot be split because the cards are not the same denomination.

If you split a pair of Aces and then draw a card with a value of 10, this is not a Blackjack. This hand has a value of 21.

Note: This rule also applies to splitting pairs of cards with a value of 10.

You can double when your hand has a value of 9, 10 or 11. You are dealt one card and your hand automatically stands. Doubling costs the same as your original bet.

You can take Insurance if the Dealer's first card is an Ace. Insurance costs half your original bet.

Insurance only covers your original bet. It does not cover any second hand, or double down bet.

When your hand and the Dealer's hand tie, it is called a Push. You are paid your original bet.

Blackjack always beats any other hand with a value of 21.

If both the Dealer and your hand have Blackjack, this is considered a Push.
